Many useful pieces are add-ons: screenshots and full URLs need Screen Details, API and BI access need ActivConnect, and AI Insights and HRIS sync cost extra. Contracts are annual only, and more than 50 licenses requires a paid support plan.
What we noted
Not the right fit for
Worth keeping in mind: Pricing is public and granular, from $10 Work Activity Tracking to $21 Workflow, with a free 3-worker plan. ActivTrak also ships its own hosted MCP server for Claude, so managers can ask productivity and utilization questions in plain language while their ActivTrak permissions still apply.

$14/seat/mo Free trial API
Why it comes up: Teramind adds DLP, keystroke logging and session recording for security-led buyers, at $14 to $32 per seat a month on annual billing.
Stands out: The DLP tier ships 200 pre-packaged DLP rules, content redaction and automatic blocking on top of full session recording and keystroke logging. Newer features target AI risk, including AI conversation recording, AI data exfiltration control, agentic AI governance and Timmy, a Slack co-pilot for plain-English questions.
Watch out: Capture is deep, including keystrokes, screen video and optional audio, so plan for employee notice, privacy law review and works council input where required. Keystroke logging and AI governance start at the UAM tier, and OCR search needs Enterprise.

$5/user/mo 14 day free trial MCP API
Why it comes up: Hubstaff pairs time tracking with payroll and field-team features, where ActivTrak centers on analytics.
Stands out: First-party MCP server and a public REST API at developer.hubstaff.com, with a 14-day trial and no credit card.
Watch out: Starter caps screenshots and app/URL tracking at 500 per seat per month and allows only 5 clients. Grow allows one integration.

$7/user/mo 14 day free trial API
Why it comes up: Time Doctor focuses on task-level time tracking for remote teams rather than capacity and AI-adoption analytics.
Stands out: Premium adds Benchmarks AI against 250,000+ users plus Unusual Activity AI for mouse jiggler detection, and Open API access sits only on Premium.
Watch out: Basic has no payroll, no web and app usage reports, and no integrations. Those start on Standard at $14/user/mo month-to-month or $140 per user per year.

Sales-quoted MCP API
Why it comes up: Visier is enterprise people analytics built on HR system data, not desktop activity capture.
Stands out: Vee and the MCP server. Most analytics vendors give you dashboards; Visier gives every leader an agent that answers a workforce question in Slack, Teams or Copilot, and lets your own Claude or ChatGPT agents query the same governed data over MCP with each person's permissions intact. Sixteen years of benchmark data tell you whether your turnover or time to fill is normal.
Watch out: No public pricing and no free trial: this is a sales-led enterprise purchase, with independent estimates running well into five or six figures a year. It reads your HR systems rather than replacing them, so the value depends on how clean your HRIS and ATS data are, and answers reflect the last data load, not live records.
