What it does
Tick the tasks in your week and see which to hand AI, which it assists with and which to keep human, with a lesson for each.
Most recruiters are told to “use AI” without being told where. The honest answer is that AI is very good at some recruiting tasks, useful but risky at others, and the wrong tool for a few. This checker sorts your own week into those three groups.
Tick the tasks you do, choose Show my AI plan, and you get the three tasks to start with this week, followed by every other task with what AI does, what stays with you and the lesson, prompts and tools that match.
Which of your recruiting tasks can AI do?
Tick the tasks that fill your week. You get a plan that sorts them into three groups: hand AI the first pass, let AI assist while you decide, or keep it human. Each task links to the lesson, prompts and tools that match.
Nothing you tick leaves this browser. Your ticks are saved on this device so you can come back later.
What do the three groups mean?
| Group | What it means | Typical tasks |
|---|---|---|
| Hand AI the first pass | AI produces a usable draft or does the legwork. You check it before it reaches a candidate or client. | Outreach drafts, search briefs, job ads, Boolean strings, interview notes, scheduling, weekly updates |
| AI assists, you decide | AI gathers or sorts information, but the judgment is yours and mistakes are costly. | Resume screening, sourcing, contact data, reference checks, fraud checks, pay research |
| Keep it human | AI can help you prepare, but the task itself depends on trust, negotiation or a hiring decision. | Deciding who moves forward, negotiating offers, winning clients, building relationships |
How are the tasks sorted?
Each task is placed by two questions: can an assistant produce something useful from the material a recruiter already has, and what happens if it gets it wrong? A clumsy outreach draft costs you a minute of editing. A wrong rejection costs a candidate a job and may break AI hiring laws. That is why screening sits in the middle group even though AI screening tools are common, and why hiring decisions stay with a person.
The “Start here” picks favour tasks that are frequent, low risk and quick to try, such as first messages and search briefs, so you see a result in your first week.
Frequently asked questions
Will AI take over these tasks completely?
Not the ones that matter most. Even in the first group a person reads the output before it goes anywhere. Will AI replace recruiters? covers which skills keep you valuable.
Do I need paid AI tools to start?
No. Most first pass tasks work in the free versions of ChatGPT, Claude or Grok with a good prompt. The prompt library has one for nearly every task on the list. Paid tools earn their place in sourcing, scheduling and note taking, where they connect to your calendar, ATS or LinkedIn.
Can I put candidate details into ChatGPT for these tasks?
Only in a business account your employer approves, and even then leave out contact details. What candidate data can you put into ChatGPT? explains the rules.
Is my list stored?
