This is not the consumer Headspace subscription. The work plan is a quoted employer contract covering EAP, Care, Companion, and Core SKUs. Sword's announced acquisition is a product-direction risk to put in the vendor-stability section of the RFP.
What we noted
Not the right fit for
Worth keeping in mind: Employees already know the Headspace brand, so the work SKU is a daily-use meditation layer that can also route into coaching and clinical care instead of a net-new EAP login.

Why it comes up: Employer meditation and sleep SKU if you want content without Headspace's coaching and therapy ladder.
Stands out: The Calm content library as an employer SKU: sleep and meditation, not therapy.
Watch out: Do not buy the consumer subscription and call it a benefit. This is a quoted employer plan, and it is not clinical care.

Why it comes up: Global clinical-plus-coaching benefit if the brief is a full mental-health plan, not a mindfulness front door.
Stands out: One Adaptive Care stack that can send someone to a coach, a therapist, a Circle, or a Pathway without a separate EAP login, which is why multi-country benefits teams buy it.
Watch out: This is a quote-only PEPM benefits contract. Session counts, family coverage, and substance-use care are plan terms, not a public seat price, so finance should price the actual utilization band before comparing it to a consumer meditation app.

Why it comes up: Gym and wellness-app network when physical activity is the wellbeing goal.
Stands out: It is a fitness-and-apps network, not a clinical EAP: employees book gyms and premium wellness apps from one membership, which is why utilization looks like a gym benefit rather than a therapy benefit.
Watch out: Budget two line items. The employer pays an annual, headcount-based contribution (quoted). Employees then pay a monthly plan from Digital at $0/mo up to Diamond at $344.99/mo. A 'free wellness perk' still asks staff to subscribe unless you subsidize a paid tier.

Why it comes up: UK/EU mental-health platform if your workforce and evidence base are European.
Stands out: A work mental-health product built for UK/EU employers, not a US consumer-app SKU with a business tab.
Watch out: Quote-only. This is not Calm, and it is not a US therapy network like Lyra.
