By Ryan Bradshaw · Original Work Insiders data · Job boards read October 22, 2026
Quick answer: Barely. We read the public job boards of 29 AI native recruiting software companies and found 282 open roles. Only 7 of them (2.5%) are recruiters. These companies are hiring 13 sales and go to market people for every recruiter, and 4 of their 7 recruiter openings are for recruiters whose job is to hire more salespeople. 25 of the 29 companies list no recruiter role at all.
Why did we check who AI recruiting companies are hiring?
The pitch you hear everywhere in 2026 is that AI will take over the recruiter’s job: sourcing, screening, scheduling, even the first interview. The companies making that pitch are also employers. They post jobs like everyone else, on public job boards anyone can read. So we looked at what they are actually hiring for.
Work Insiders already reads the job boards of the vendors in our directory every day for the hiring signal leaderboard. For this article we took the AI native vendors whose product does recruiting work, pulled every open job title from their boards on October 22, 2026, and sorted each title by job family.
How many recruiters are AI recruiting companies hiring?
Seven. Across 29 companies and 282 open roles, seven job titles are recruiting roles. One more is a people team role (a total rewards manager at Ashby). That puts recruiting at 2.5% of open roles at the companies selling AI recruiting software.
Those seven roles sit at just four companies. Metaview has three, Paraform has two, and Juicebox and Findem have one each. The other 25 companies, including the two biggest hirers in the group, list no recruiter role at all.
| Job family | Open roles | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Sales and go to market | 94 | 33% |
| Engineering and AI | 72 | 26% |
| Customer success and support | 55 | 20% |
| Product and design | 19 | 7% |
| Operations, finance and legal | 17 | 6% |
| Marketing | 17 | 6% |
| Recruiters | 7 | 2.5% |
| People and HR | 1 | 0.4% |
| Total | 282 | 100% |
What are AI recruiting companies hiring for instead?
Mostly people who sell and people who keep customers. Sales and go to market roles make up a third of all openings (94 roles), and customer success and support add another 55. Together that is 149 roles, or 53% of everything these companies are hiring for. Account executives, sales development reps, solutions engineers and implementation managers dominate the boards.
Engineering is the second biggest group at 72 roles (26%). That includes a new kind of job: the forward deployed engineer, who sits with customers and sets the product up for them. Arbi, Alex and Take2 AI are all hiring for it. Twelve job titles in the set name AI, machine learning or forward deployment directly.
Put simply, these companies are in growth mode. Seventeen of the 282 titles start with the word “Founding”, which tells you how many of these teams are still small and building their first sales and engineering functions.
Who are the recruiters at AI recruiting companies hired to recruit?
Salespeople, mostly. Four of the seven recruiter openings are GTM recruiters, a job that exists to hire account executives and other go to market staff. Metaview has two (San Francisco and London), Juicebox has one, and Paraform has one. Two more are technical recruiters for engineering hiring, at Metaview and Paraform.
The seventh is different. Findem is hiring a US IT recruiter based in Bangalore to fill emerging AI roles, which reads like recruiting for clients rather than for Findem itself. Paraform is also a special case: it runs a marketplace where independent recruiters fill roles for companies, so recruiters are part of how its product works.
| Company | Recruiter role | Location |
|---|---|---|
| GTM Recruiter | San Francisco | |
| GTM Recruiter | London | |
| Technical Recruiter | San Francisco | |
| GTM Recruiter | San Francisco | |
| Founding GTM Recruiter | San Francisco | |
| Founding Technical Recruiter | San Francisco | |
| US IT Recruiter, Emerging AI Roles | Bangalore |
Which AI recruiting companies are hiring the most?
Ashby is the biggest hirer by a wide margin with 69 open roles, followed by Metaview (39), Juicebox (33), Greenhouse (19) and Paraform (15). The two applicant tracking systems in the top five, Ashby and Greenhouse, have 88 openings between them and not a single recruiter role.
| Company | Open roles | Engineering | Sales and GTM | Customer success | Recruiters |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 69 | 25 | 13 | 21 | 0 | |
| 39 | 2 | 17 | 7 | 3 | |
| 33 | 6 | 15 | 6 | 1 | |
| 19 | 5 | 9 | 5 | 0 | |
| 15 | 3 | 7 | 0 | 2 | |
| 10 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 0 | |
| 9 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | |
| 9 | 4 | 3 | 1 | 0 | |
| 8 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 0 | |
| 8 | 2 | 3 | 1 | 0 |
Metaview stands out. Its product records and summarizes interviews for recruiting teams, and it is also the most active recruiter employer in the group. Nearly half its openings (17 of 39) are sales roles, and its three recruiters are there to keep that sales hiring moving.
Does this mean AI is replacing recruiters?
Not on its own, and it is worth being fair about what this data can and cannot show. A company with no recruiter opening may already have a recruiting team that is fully staffed. Small startups often have founders do the hiring. Several of these companies use their own product to recruit, and some use agencies. A job board snapshot shows demand for new hires on one day, not the size of an existing team.
What the data does show is where the money is going right now. Companies selling AI to recruiters are spending their hiring budget on sales, engineering and customer success, and very little on recruiters. When they do hire recruiters, the job is mostly to hire more salespeople. That is a useful thing to know the next time a vendor tells you their AI does the work of a recruiting team.
It also fits the wider market. Recruiter demand overall is recovering, not collapsing: Indeed’s HR postings index stood at 98.6 in mid October 2026 (February 2020 equals 100), up about 18% from 83.2 a year earlier, though still far below the 2022 peak. Recruiters are being hired. Just not, it seems, by the companies building AI recruiters.
Where are AI recruiting companies hiring?
Remote and San Francisco lead. 83 roles (29%) are listed as remote or open to anywhere, and 68 (24%) are in San Francisco. London has 36 (13%) and New York 25 (9%). The other 70 are spread across cities in Europe, Asia and the rest of the US.
If you are a recruiter who wants to work for a recruiting tech company, the openings are few and concentrated in San Francisco. Your better route into these companies may be a customer facing role: recruiting experience is a real advantage in customer success, solutions and sales roles at a vendor whose buyers are recruiters. You can browse open roles in recruiting tech on the Work Insiders job board.
How did we collect this data?
We started with every listing in the Work Insiders directory that is flagged as AI native and whose product does recruiting work: applicant tracking, recruiting CRM, sourcing, AI interviewing and screening, interview intelligence, assessments, candidate fraud checks, reference and background checks, and recruitment marketing. Sales tools, general AI labs, developer data tools and large HR suites such as Workday were left out. That gave 29 companies with a public job board and at least one open role.
On October 22, 2026 we read each company’s job board directly from its public feed on Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, Gem, SmartRecruiters or BambooHR. Every open job title was sorted into one job family by its title, then checked by hand. Solutions engineers count as sales, support engineers count as customer success, and forward deployed engineers count as engineering. A general “talent community” posting that is not a real role was removed. Spark Hire was left out because its single role could not be read.
Job boards change daily, so treat these as a snapshot. You can see live open role counts for every vendor on each tool’s Work Insiders listing and on the hiring signal leaderboard. Corrections go to support@workinsiders.com.
