Ask it things like:
“Pick calibration profiles from these 15 and write the note to the hiring manager”
“Here's what the manager said about each profile. What do they really want?”
“The client rejected three submittals in a row. Help me recalibrate”
Best for
Agency recruiters on a new search, or one where the client keeps rejecting

name: role-calibrator
description: Runs a fast calibration round on a new search. It picks three to six contrasting sample profiles, writes the note asking the hiring manager to react to each, then turns the reactions into a sharper job order and search. Use when a recruiter says "calibrate", "calibration profiles", "the client keeps rejecting", "what do they really want", or after the first two or three rejections on a search.

# Role calibrator
What a hiring manager says at intake and what they say yes to are often different. Calibration finds the difference in days, not after a month of rejected submittals.
If `references/agency-profile.md` exists, read the blind profile setting. Calibration profiles are blind (no name, no current employer) and they are not submittals: you have not spoken to these people yet.
## Mode 1: build the calibration set
Input: the job order and 10 to 30 profiles from a first search, as pasted text or summaries.
Pick three to six profiles that differ on purpose, so each reaction teaches you something:
- **The on-paper match:** ticks every box in the job order.
- **The stretch:** strong on the work, missing one listed requirement.
- **The different background:** same skills, from another industry or type of company.
- **The level test:** one level above or below what the job order says.
- **The trade-off:** strong on the top must-have, weak on a nice-to-have the manager mentioned more than once.
Say in one line what each profile tests.
Write each one as a five-line blind summary: current level and type of company, years doing the work, two pieces of evidence, location band, one clear gap. No names, no employer names, no photos, and no schools unless the manager listed education as a must-have.
Then draft the note to the hiring manager:
- One sentence on why: "Before we contact anyone, I'd like your reaction to a few real profiles so we search exactly right."
- For each profile, three questions: Would you interview this person? What do you like? What's missing?
- Ask for replies within two working days, or offer a 15-minute call.
Keep the note under 150 words, plus the profiles.
## Mode 2: read the reactions
Input: the manager's replies or call notes, plus the job order.
Produce:
1. **What changed:** requirements that turned out to matter more, less or not at all. Quote the manager.
2. **The hidden must-have:** what they rejected profiles for that is not in the job order. If there is none yet, say so.
3. **Updated job order:** must-haves (three at most), nice-to-haves and deal-breakers, rewritten.
4. **Search changes:** backgrounds and target companies to add or drop, titles to include, keywords to change. List what to hand to the Boolean and X-ray Sourcing skill.
5. **Red flags:** contradictions ("wants ten years, but rejected everyone above the range"), moving goalposts, or a pay range that does not fit the profiles they liked. Suggest how the recruiter raises each one with the client.
## Rules
- Never contact or submit anyone in the calibration set without speaking to them first and getting permission.
- Remove anything that could reveal age or other protected traits: graduation years, photos, personal details.
- If the manager rejects profiles for reasons tied to protected traits, flag it to the recruiter as a compliance concern. Never add it to the job order.
- Keep the manager's own words. Do not soften what they said.

# Agency profile
Fill this in once. Every skill in the pack reads it, so outreach, job orders and submittals come out in your agency's voice with your real terms. Delete any line you do not want the AI to use. Leave a line blank rather than guessing.

How to install Role Calibrator in Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok
ChatGPT scans it, then uses it on its own or when you @ mention it.
Skills are on ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu, once an admin switches them on. On Free, Plus or Pro, paste the SKILL.md text into a Project or GPT's instructions instead, with your agency profile under it.
Grok
Grok Bot has no SKILL.md upload button yet. Paste the SKILL.md text into a chat with your Bot and say: Use Skill Creator to save this as a skill.
Review the draft and save it, then switch it on for your Bots under Settings, Plugins, Yours.
Call it with / in a chat.
Using Grok Build, xAI's coding agent? Unzip the folder into .grok/skills/ instead.
Gemini app
The regular Gemini app has no skill upload, so make a Gem.
Paste everything in SKILL.md below the top block into the Gem's instructions, and add your filled-in agency profile under it.
Steps follow OpenAI's skills guide and Google's Gemini Enterprise and Gemini CLI guides. Menu names change, so check there if a label looks different. Claude Code reads skills from ~/.claude/skills/.
Yes. It is part of the free Work Insiders Agency Desk Pack, MIT licensed, so you can edit and share it.
Does Role Calibrator work in Gemini?
Yes. Upload it in Gemini Enterprise or drop the folder into Gemini CLI's skills folder. In the regular Gemini app, paste its instructions into a Gem.
Can I trust it with my data?
It is instructions only, with no scripts, so it cannot do anything your assistant could not already do. It can still steer how the assistant answers, so read it first.
