Frequently asked questions

Do employers have to give an employment verification letter?

In most US states there is no general law that forces an employer to write one, but most do when an employee asks. Many companies only confirm dates and title, and share pay only with the employee’s written permission.

Who should sign it?

Someone in HR or the employee’s manager, on company letterhead. Add your logo and a signature above, and give a phone number or email so the reader can check it.

Is what I type saved?

No. The letter is built in your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored.
