How it works

• Open a PDF, or load a blank I-9.
• If the PDF has fillable boxes, they are shaded blue. Click one and type. Tick boxes and dropdowns work too.
• For a PDF with no boxes, choose Text, Date or Tick and click where it goes. Drag anything to move it, or drag its corner to resize.
• Choose Signature or Initials, draw or type it once, then click each place it belongs.
• Download. Leave Lock the answers ticked so nobody can change the form after you sign.

Frequently asked questions

Is a typed or drawn signature legally valid?

In the US, the ESIGN Act and state UETA laws generally treat an electronic signature as valid when the signer means to sign and everyone agrees to do business electronically. Some documents and some employers have stricter rules, and Form I-9 has its own requirements. This tool places your signature on the page. It does not add an audit trail or identity check, so use a dedicated contract and e-signature tool when you need proof of who signed and when.

Is my signature stored?

No. Your PDF, your answers and your signature stay in this browser tab. Close the tab and they are gone. Nothing is uploaded or saved by Work Insiders.

Why can I not type into some PDFs?

Only PDFs built with form boxes have places to type. For any other PDF, including scans, use Text to add words anywhere on the page. Password protected PDFs need the password removed first.
