Why people look past Criteria

All three packages are sales-quoted. AI proctoring, the AI interview agent, and AI scoring are paid upgrades, and Develop is a separate add-on.

What we noted

  • No published price
  • AI features cost extra
  • Develop is a separate add-on

Not the right fit for

  • Engineering teams that only need a live coding pad
  • Buyers who need a published price

Worth keeping in mind: Cognitive, personality, emotional intelligence, risk, and skills tests on one platform, with video interviews in the same suite.

What each one does differently

SHL

Sales-quoted API

Why it comes up: Enterprise psychometrics if Criteria is one of two assessment bids.

Stands out: One of the broadest assessment portfolios in the market, with more than 80 ATS integrations.

Watch out: There is no self-serve plan. Buying runs through sales, and rollout is usually a scoped program rather than a quick setup.

Best for

  • Global TA teams running assessment programs
  • I/O psychology-led hiring processes
  • Enterprises that buy through a formal RFP

TestGorilla

$215/mo Free tier

Why it comes up: Broad test catalog with a more self-serve buying motion.

Stands out: A large test library with anti-cheating measures and a genuine free plan.

Watch out: The jump from Core to Plus is steep, and it is tests rather than video interviewing.

Best for

  • Teams that want evidence before a live interview
  • Organisations on the major applicant trackers
  • Buyers replacing an enterprise assessment module

Harver

Sales-quoted API

Why it comes up: High-volume hiring assessments if frontline roles are the focus.

Stands out: Combines assessments, pymetrics game-based tests, video interviews and Checkster reference checks under one vendor.

Watch out: Pricing is sales-quoted and built around volume and modules, so expect a demo and scoping before any number.

Best for

  • Contact centers and BPOs hiring at volume
  • Retail and hourly hiring teams
  • Enterprises adding predictive assessments to an ATS

HireVue

Sales-quoted

Why it comes up: Enterprise video interviews plus assessments in one platform.

Stands out: Video interviews and validated assessments in one enterprise suite.

Watch out: No published price, and it is far heavier than a small team needs for async video.

Best for

  • Enterprise talent teams standardising video interviews
  • Teams that need assessments before an onsite
  • High-volume employers that cannot run live first rounds
