$8/employee/mo

Peoplebox combines a Slack and Teams based performance platform (reviews, OKRs, 360s, engagement, compensation) with Nova, an AI recruiter that runs phone screens and interviews. • Employers hiring hourly or volume roles who want AI phone screens

Where they pull apart

Peoplebox

Stands out: Most of the work happens inside Slack or Microsoft Teams, which drives adoption without training, and OKRs can update automatically from tools such as Jira. It is also one of few performance platforms with its own AI recruiter: Nova runs natural phone screens, async video and proctored coding rounds.

Watch out: The $8 starting price covers Performance Management only. 360 feedback is another $8 per employee and compensation $5, so a full stack can pass $20 a person, billed annually. Nova is quoted separately, interviews are English only for now, and reviewers say some AI meeting prompts feel generic.

Not the right fit for

  • Buyers who need a full HRIS or payroll
  • Teams interviewing candidates in languages other than English
  • Very small teams wanting a free plan

VeraHire

Stands out: Every score has to trace back to something the candidate wrote or said, and the shortlist pushes into 50+ ATS and HRIS tools or runs with no ATS at all. Pricing is per screen and per interview with unlimited team members, and the product is independently bias audited under NYC Local Law 144.

Watch out: The cheapest bundles assume steady volume: Starter covers only 10 interviews a month before $6.50 overage applies. Interviews are voice by default, so roles that need a camera depend on VeraHire switching video on for your account, and SMS invites are billed separately.

Not the right fit for

  • Executive or low-volume specialist hiring
  • Teams that want a full ATS
  • Roles that need live coding interviews
