Is There a LinkedIn MCP Server? What Recruiters Can Safely Connect (2026)

LinkedIn has no official MCP server. Here is what exists, why cookie based LinkedIn servers put your account at risk, and the safe options recruiters can connect instead.

LinkedIn MCP server

Quick answer: No. LinkedIn does not publish an official MCP server, and we found no LinkedIn connector in Claude’s directory when we checked on October 12, 2026. The “LinkedIn MCP servers” you see on GitHub and vendor sites are built by third parties, and most of them work by driving your own LinkedIn login.

What to use instead: LinkedIn’s official app inside ChatGPT for quick profile lookups, Hiring Assistant inside LinkedIn Recruiter for agent work on your projects, and recruiting data vendors that run their own MCP servers for search and enrichment in Claude or ChatGPT.

This page is part of our guide to MCP servers for recruiters. It covers what exists for LinkedIn today, why the account based options put your profile at risk, and what you can connect without breaking LinkedIn’s rules.

Does LinkedIn have an official MCP server?

No. An MCP server is the piece of software that lets an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT use another product’s data and actions. Gmail, HubSpot, Apollo and many recruiting tools now run their own. LinkedIn does not.

Even vendors that sell LinkedIn access through MCP say so. Unipile, which offers a hosted LinkedIn MCP, states that LinkedIn does not publish an MCP server of its own.

We also checked Claude’s connector directory on October 12, 2026 and found no LinkedIn connector. If you see a “LinkedIn connector” offered somewhere, it is a third party product, not LinkedIn.

LinkedIn’s direction is different. Instead of opening Recruiter to outside AI agents, it is building agent features inside Recruiter itself. More on that below.

What LinkedIn MCP servers exist right now?

There are four kinds of LinkedIn connection for AI assistants on the market, and only one comes from LinkedIn. They differ in one way that matters most to a recruiter: whether they act through your own LinkedIn account.

OptionWho makes itHow it gets LinkedIn dataUses your LinkedIn account?
LinkedIn app in ChatGPTLinkedIn (official)LinkedIn’s own lookup, limited fieldsNo account automation
Community browser servers (for example stickerdaniel/linkedin-mcp-server)Open source developersDrives your logged in browser session and cookiesYes
Unipile hosted MCPUnipile (third party)Acts as your Classic, Recruiter or Sales Navigator accountYes
Scraping platforms such as ApifyThird partyScrapes public pages without your loginNo, but data use terms still apply

The most popular community server, stickerdaniel server, has about 3,800 stars on GitHub. It uses your logged in browser session to read profiles, run searches, and read and send messages. Its own FAQ warns that accounts can be restricted or banned.

Unipile’s hosted LinkedIn MCP is aimed at developers. It acts as the user’s own LinkedIn account for search, profiles, messages, InMail and invitations. That puts it in the same risk zone as the browser servers, because the automation runs through your account.

Scraping platforms like the Apify LinkedIn server do not use your login, so your own account is not exposed. That does not make the data free to use however you like. LinkedIn’s terms on scraping and data passing still apply to how that data is gathered and used.

Why are cookie or account based LinkedIn servers risky?

Because LinkedIn’s rules ban exactly what they do, and the penalty lands on your account. For a recruiter, your LinkedIn account and your Recruiter seat are often the most valuable tools you have. Losing them costs far more than any time an AI shortcut saves.

LinkedIn’s prohibited software policy bans crawlers, bots, browser plugins and extensions that scrape LinkedIn, change how it looks, or automate activity on the site. LinkedIn says accounts that use them risk restriction or shutdown.

The LinkedIn User Agreement, section 8.2 (effective November 3, 2025), goes further. It says you may not:

  • Use another person’s account, including sharing a login or copying cookies.
  • Use software to scrape LinkedIn.
  • Use bots or other unauthorized automated methods to access the service, add contacts, send messages or engage with content.
  • Pass LinkedIn data on through aggregators or data brokers.

A server that runs on your browser cookies touches several of those lines at once. An AI agent sending messages or invitations from your account is exactly the “automated methods” case.

LinkedIn also enforces this in court. After LinkedIn sued Proxycurl in January 2025, the LinkedIn data provider shut down in July 2025, and its founder wrote that it closed to comply with the settlement. Any tool that depends on LinkedIn data LinkedIn did not approve can disappear with little notice.

RiskWhat it means for a recruiter
Account restriction or banYou lose your network, InMail history and possibly your Recruiter seat
Shared cookies or loginsYour session sits in third party software, which section 8.2 prohibits
Agent sends messages for youAutomated messaging is banned, and mistakes go out under your name
Vendor shutdownWorkflows built on unapproved LinkedIn data can stop overnight
Candidate data exposureProfiles and messages pass through servers your firm has not vetted

We do not recommend connecting your LinkedIn account to any of these servers. The rest of this page covers what you can connect instead.

What does LinkedIn’s official ChatGPT app do?

LinkedIn has an official app in ChatGPT, published with LinkedIn as the developer. It is useful but narrow. According to OpenAI’s LinkedIn app page, it looks up people and shows their title, company, location and follower count, with a link to the full profile.

The ChatGPT LinkedIn app canThe ChatGPT LinkedIn app cannot
Look up a person on LinkedInExport profiles or lists
Show title, company and locationSend messages or InMail
Show follower countSend connection requests
Link you to the full profileConnect to LinkedIn Recruiter

For a recruiter, that makes it a quick check tool. You can confirm someone’s current company before a call, or sanity check a referral. It will not build a pipeline or run outreach. If you work in ChatGPT, it is the only LinkedIn connection we know of that LinkedIn itself publishes.

What about Hiring Assistant inside LinkedIn Recruiter?

This is where LinkedIn is putting its agent work. Rather than letting outside AI drive Recruiter, LinkedIn builds the agent into LinkedIn Recruiter itself.

LinkedIn announced that Hiring Assistant became globally available in English in 2025. It works inside your Recruiter projects, on LinkedIn’s own data, under LinkedIn’s rules.

LinkedIn’s 2026 Wave 1 release adds ATS Connected Projects and a Microsoft Teams integration. That moves Recruiter closer to the rest of your stack without opening it to third party agents.

The trade off is clear. Hiring Assistant is the approved way to get agent help on LinkedIn data, but it lives inside Recruiter. You cannot call it from Claude or from your own ChatGPT workflows. Ask your LinkedIn rep which features your seat includes.

Which data vendors have their own MCP servers instead?

If the goal is candidate search or contact enrichment inside Claude or ChatGPT, the safer path is a data vendor that runs its own first party MCP server. You connect with your own login to that vendor, and your LinkedIn account stays out of it.

Our directory tracks which recruiting tools run their own server. A few that recruiters ask about most:

ToolWhat it doesFirst party MCP
SeekOutAI search over a large talent graph, with diversity and mobility filtersYes, included in Recruit
JuiceboxPlain language candidate searchYes
GemRecruiting CRM and outreachYes
ApolloB2B database plus sequencesYes
ZoomInfoEnterprise contact graph and org chartsYes
HunterWork email finder and verifierYes

For the full list grouped by job, with server addresses, see our Claude connectors for recruiting. For the running count, see our live MCP tracker.

One caution. A vendor having an MCP server does not tell you where its profile data comes from. Before you buy, ask each vendor how it sources profiles and whether that sourcing respects the terms of the sites involved. If the answer is vague, treat that as a warning.

If you sell to clients as well as recruit, our Apollo MCP guide walks through one of these servers in detail.

How do I set up a safe LinkedIn workflow with AI?

You can still get real help from AI on LinkedIn work. The rule is simple: the AI does the thinking and writing, and you do the clicking on LinkedIn.

1. Keep LinkedIn actions manual

Run searches, send InMail and send invitations yourself, inside LinkedIn or Recruiter. Do not install any extension or server that asks for your LinkedIn cookies or password.

2. Use AI to plan the search

Ask Claude or ChatGPT to turn a job description into titles, skills and a Boolean string you paste into Recruiter. Our guide to sourcing with Claude has more prompts.

3. Use the official LinkedIn tools for lookups and agents

Use the LinkedIn app in ChatGPT for quick profile checks. Use Hiring Assistant inside Recruiter if your seat includes it.

4. Connect a data vendor for search and enrichment

Pick a vendor with its own MCP server from the table above and connect it with your own vendor login. Keep any write or send tools on approval so nothing goes out without you.

5. Draft outreach in AI, send it yourself

Have the assistant draft the InMail. Read it, edit it, and send it from LinkedIn yourself.

Claude prompt: LinkedIn Recruiter search plan

Here is a job description for a [JOB TITLE] role in [LOCATION]: [PASTE JD]. Build me a LinkedIn Recruiter search plan. Give me 6 alternate job titles, 10 must have skills, 5 target companies that hire for this role, and one Boolean string under 300 characters I can paste into the keywords field. Then write a 90 word InMail I can edit and send myself. Do not suggest any automation or scraping.

What should agency owners tell their recruiters?

Put the policy in writing, because one recruiter installing a cookie based tool can put a shared Recruiter contract at risk.

  • No LinkedIn automation. No extensions, bots or MCP servers that use a LinkedIn login or cookies.
  • Approved connectors only. Keep a short list of AI connectors the firm has vetted, and turn on connectors at the admin level so an owner approves each one.
  • Approval on every send. Any connector that can send email or messages stays on “ask before sending.”
  • Care with candidate data. Use team or business AI plans for candidate work, and do not paste sensitive personal details into personal accounts.
  • Check the law. If AI helps you screen or rank people, run your process through our AI hiring law checker.

Quick answers

Is there an official LinkedIn MCP server?
No. LinkedIn does not publish one, and we found no LinkedIn connector in Claude’s directory as of October 12, 2026.

Is the GitHub LinkedIn MCP server safe to use?
It runs on your logged in session, which LinkedIn’s terms prohibit, and its own FAQ warns of restrictions or bans. We do not recommend it for a working recruiter account.

Can ChatGPT message candidates on LinkedIn?
No. The official LinkedIn app in ChatGPT looks people up only. It cannot message, connect or export.

Can Claude connect to LinkedIn Recruiter?
Not through any official connector we know of. LinkedIn puts its agent, Hiring Assistant, inside Recruiter instead.

What is the safest way to source with AI?
Use AI to plan searches and draft messages, do LinkedIn actions yourself, and connect a data vendor that runs its own MCP server for search and enrichment.

The bottom line

There is no official LinkedIn MCP server. The third party servers that run on your login or cookies break LinkedIn’s terms and put your account at risk. Use LinkedIn’s ChatGPT app for lookups, Hiring Assistant inside Recruiter for agent work, and data vendors with their own MCP servers for search in Claude or ChatGPT.
