Bottom line
Developer API from Paris for adding resume parsing and candidate scoring to your own software. Five endpoints cover CV parsing, job criteria extraction, one to one matching, ranking up to 10 candidates and skills normalisation, all on one credit balance, and a first-party MCP server lets Claude or ChatGPT use the same tools in a chat. The free plan gives 50 calls a month; paid plans are 24 euros a month for 500 and 89 euros for 2,000.
Stands out for: Every score comes with a reason: Match returns a status and explanation for each weighted criterion, and Rank orders up to 10 candidates for one credit with a rationale each. Prices are public, failed calls cost nothing, and the same credits work through the MCP server, so a recruiter can screen resumes in Claude without writing code.
Watch out for: Criteria labels, match explanations and ranking rationales are written in French whatever the input language, so English teams rely on their assistant or their own code to translate them. Prices are in euros only, and the ATS connections are API recipes a developer builds, not one click marketplace apps.
Overview
HireLayer is a recruiting API platform based in Paris. It sells five APIs on one key and one credit balance: CV Extract parses a resume into structured JSON, Job Extract turns a job description into weighted criteria, Match scores one candidate against a job, Rank orders up to 10 candidates for one job, and Skills maps free text skills to a taxonomy with stable IDs.
CV Extract accepts PDF, Word, image and other formats, runs OCR on scanned resumes, crops the candidate photo and normalises free wording into fixed values such as experience level, language level, contract type and availability date. Results can also be pushed to a webhook. The vendor reports more than 2 million requests processed since 2024.
Match and Rank return a score from 0 to 1 with an explanation for each criterion, and the vendor states that scores support human decisions rather than replace them. The explanations are currently written in French.
A first-party MCP server brings the same five tools to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and Codex with an OAuth sign-in, plus ready-made prompts such as a full screening run. Integration guides cover Make, Power Automate, Greenhouse, Lever, Bullhorn, Teamtailor, Zoho Recruit, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors and Oracle Recruiting Cloud through each system's own API.
Resumes are processed and stored in France, with a request flag to skip storage. The free plan has 50 credits a month; Starter is 24 euros a month for 500 and Scale 89 euros for 2,000, with one-time packs from 29 euros.

MCP server
https://hirelayer.co/mcp
First-party MCP at hirelayer.co/mcp, hosted by the vendor, open source under MIT and published on npm as hirelayer-mcp. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and Codex connect with an OAuth sign-in and no API key to copy; a local npx version uses an API key and can read resume files from disk. Tools are parse_resume, extract_job_criteria, match_candidate, rank_candidates and resolve_skills, all read-only, plus ready-made screening and summary prompts. It works on every plan, including Free, and each successful tool call uses one credit.
