Quick answer
Grok Bot is xAI’s team of AI teammates that each work on a cloud computer, sign into your tools and finish multi step jobs such as sourcing a shortlist, drafting a campaign or reconciling expenses, then stop for your approval. It has no standalone price. It comes with paid plans: Cursor Pro at $20 a month, SuperGrok at $30 a month, X Premium+, and higher Cursor and SuperGrok tiers, each with a weekly usage allowance and optional pay as you go usage on top. We checked xAI’s, Cursor’s and X’s own pages on September 30, 2026.
Key takeaways
- Grok Bot does real work inside apps and websites, not just chat replies, and keeps going after you close your laptop.
- The cheapest paid way in is Cursor Pro at $20 a month or SuperGrok at $30 a month. SuperGrok Lite and the free Grok plan do not include it.
- There is a free trial, but it is a usage credit with a 7 day window, not a free plan.
- Plans do not stack. If you hold Cursor and SuperGrok, Grok Bot uses the single larger allowance.
- “Grok bot” also gets used for the @grok reply account on X, community Discord bots and open source lookalikes. None of those are this product.
Which “Grok bot” are people actually searching for?
Four different things share the name, and most confusion about price comes from mixing them up. This guide is about the first one in the table, the agent product xAI launched in beta on August 11, 2026. If you have not set it up yet, our Grok Bot starter guide covers install and your first task, so we skip those steps here.
| What people call “Grok bot” | What it really is | Who makes it | What it costs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grok Bot (x.ai/bot) | Named AI teammates on a shared cloud computer that sign into your tools and finish jobs | xAI, sold through Cursor and Grok plans | Included with paid plans from $20 a month |
| @grok on X | The Grok chatbot answering when you tag it in a post or chat | X and xAI | Free with limits; higher limits on X Premium tiers |
| Grok Discord bot | A third party Discord bot that sends messages to the Grok API | Community developers | Grok API tokens plus hosting |
| Open source grok bot | GitHub projects that copy the Grok Bot idea or add tools to it | Independent developers | Free code; you pay for models and servers |
The short version of the difference: a chatbot answers, Grok Bot acts. We go deeper on that split in Grok Bot vs chatbot.
What can Grok Bot actually do for a small team?
Grok Bot can take a job a junior employee would do in a browser and carry it to a finished file, draft or record. Each Bot gets a name and one job, works on a persistent computer with a browser, files and a terminal, and uses connectors where they exist and screen clicking where they do not, according to xAI’s Grok Bot docs.
Bots remember your preferences, learn a workflow when you show it once, save it as a skill, and rerun it on a schedule as a routine. Several Bots can work in parallel and pass work to each other in a group chat. xAI’s own plans update lists jobs like sales prospector, inbox manager, office manager, customer support and meeting stand in.
What can Grok Bot do for recruiters?
For recruiters, the clearest job is the one xAI calls Talent Scout. Its starter prompt on the official use cases page asks the Bot to find 20 candidates who meet the must haves, skip anyone already in your ATS, explain the evidence for each match and draft outreach in your voice without contacting anyone.
Other recruiting jobs that fit well: turning a messy intake call into a tight brief, building a weekly list of companies showing hiring signals, prepping interview packets, and chasing stalled scheduling threads. Free templates such as Recruiting Coordinator handle the logistics side, and our AI agents for recruiting page lists 41 templates in all. Our recruiting guide has a ready prompt.
The rule we keep: the Bot drafts, a person sends.
What can Grok Bot do for marketing?
For marketing, Grok Bot works best on repeat jobs with numbers attached. xAI’s Paid Media example pulls spend and results by campaign, compares them with budget and target acquisition cost, recommends shifts and drafts a Slack update, while leaving budgets untouched until you approve.
Other marketing jobs that suit it: a weekly search ranking check, turning a press release into a blog draft, competitor page monitoring, and social post drafts in your voice. Keep publish and spend behind approval. Our Grok Bot marketing guide walks through the setup.
What can Grok Bot do for operations?
For operations, Grok Bot handles the browser chores that eat a coordinator’s week. xAI’s Expense Manager example builds the weekly expense summary, matches receipts from the finance inbox, flags policy exceptions and drafts one follow up per owner without sending anything.
A Chief of Staff Bot can scan Slack, email, calendar and meeting notes each morning and return only items that need you. xAI also describes internal Bots seating new hires and processing invoices found in Gmail in its launch post.
What can Grok Bot do, and what can it not do?
Grok Bot is strong at preparing and finishing work, and weak where a human has to log in, judge or take responsibility. The table sums up what xAI’s FAQ and docs say, plus the limits we see raised most often.
| Task | Can it? | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Sign into web apps with no API | Yes | You take over the computer to type passwords, two factor codes and CAPTCHAs yourself |
| Keep working while your laptop is closed | Yes | Work runs on the cloud computer, per the Grok Bot FAQ |
| Run several Bots at once | Yes | Each Bot gets its own screen, but runs one computer task at a time |
| Learn a workflow from one demo | Yes, where rolled out | Teach a task records up to ten minutes of browser steps |
| Run on a schedule | Yes | Routines run on a schedule or after an event |
| Keep data apart between Bots | No | All Bots share one computer, files and logins; isolation is per user, not per Bot |
| Bypass CAPTCHAs or blocked sites | No | It should hand those steps back to you |
| Make hiring, spending or legal calls | Should not | Add Ask first rules for send, publish, delete, purchase and production changes |
| Guarantee a fixed amount of work per month | No | Usage is metered by agent steps and tokens, not messages |
How much does Grok Bot cost in 2026?
Grok Bot has no separate subscription. You get it through a qualifying Cursor plan, or by linking an individual SuperGrok or X Premium+ account to a Cursor account, per Cursor’s billing page. Every plan includes a weekly allowance, and xAI does not publish how many tokens each allowance holds. Prices below were checked on September 30, 2026; confirm on the vendor site before you buy.
| Plan | Price (USD) | Grok Bot included? | Weekly Grok Bot usage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free Cursor account | $0 | Trial credit only | One usage credit, 7 day window |
| SuperGrok Lite | See xAI’s site | No | Not included |
| Cursor Pro | $20 a month | Yes | Below Pro+ |
| SuperGrok | $30 a month | Yes, by linking | Below SuperGrok Plus |
| X Premium+ | See X’s site | Yes, by linking | Below SuperGrok Plus |
| Cursor Teams Standard | $40 per user a month | Yes, every member | Follows the seat allowance |
| Cursor Pro+ | $60 a month | Yes | Generous, below Ultra |
| SuperGrok Plus | $100 a month | Yes, by linking | Generous, below Heavy |
| Cursor Teams Premium | $120 per user a month | Yes | Follows the seat allowance |
| Cursor Ultra | $200 a month | Yes | Highest Cursor tier |
| SuperGrok Heavy | See xAI’s site | Yes, by linking | Highest linked tier |
| Enterprise | Quote based | Yes, via account team | Set by your contract |
X confirms on its Premium help page that Premium+ includes SuperGrok access and Grok Bot. SuperGrok Team and SuperGrok Enterprise accounts cannot be linked, so business Grok plans do not unlock Grok Bot this way.
Do Cursor and SuperGrok plans stack for Grok Bot?
No. Holding Cursor Pro+ and SuperGrok Plus does not double your allowance; Grok Bot uses whichever single grant is larger. The link from a SuperGrok or X Premium+ account to Cursor is also permanent, so link it to the Cursor account you plan to keep.
What happens when the weekly usage runs out?
When the weekly allowance hits 100%, Grok Bot stops until the weekly reset, unless you turn on on demand usage in Cursor. On demand is billed from the model and token cost of each task, so there is no fixed price per message. Set a monthly limit first; a Bot already mid task can finish a little past it.
Plan for heavy burn. Threads on r/cursor such as Grok Bot is expensive describe people using a full week of allowance in two days. Long conversations, many parallel Bots and routines every 15 minutes drain it fastest. A watcher template like Throttle reports token burn across a fleet.
Can you use Grok Bot for free?
You can try Grok Bot for free, but you cannot run it for free. Cursor describes the trial as a usage credit with a 7 day window, measured by agent steps and tokens. One large job can use most of it, used credit is not refunded, and the trial never turns into a paid plan on its own.
TRY FREE Yes: one usage credit with a 7 day window.
RUN FREE No: ongoing use needs a paid Cursor, SuperGrok or X Premium+ plan.
The free Grok plan on grok.com does not list Grok Bot, and neither does SuperGrok Lite. Free community templates and plugins exist, but they run inside a paid Grok Bot account. If you only need drafts and answers, the free Grok chatbot or any chat assistant is the cheaper tool.
Is Grok Bot worth it for a small business or recruiting desk?
Grok Bot is worth paying for when you have a repeat browser job with a clear finish line and someone to review the output. It is poor value for one off questions, or when nobody has time to check what the Bot produced. Use this table to pick a starting plan.
| If you are | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A solo recruiter testing one Talent Scout Bot | Free trial, then Cursor Pro or SuperGrok | Lowest entry price; one Bot with a weekly routine fits the allowance |
| Already paying for X Premium+ | Link X Premium+ | You get Grok Bot usage without a new bill |
| Also using Grok chat, images or video daily | SuperGrok or SuperGrok Plus | One subscription covers chat and Grok Bot |
| Running three or more Bots with daily routines | Cursor Pro+ or Ultra, with an on demand cap | Bigger weekly allowance; on demand covers spikes |
| A team of recruiters or marketers | Cursor Teams Standard | Every member gets access with central billing |
| An HR team with SSO and audit needs | Enterprise | Admin, network and audit controls for Grok Bot |
Before you buy, write down the one job, the tools it needs, and who approves the output. Our list of 524 plugins shows which connectors already exist for your stack.
Is there a Grok bot for Discord?
There is no official Grok Discord bot from xAI that we could find, and a Discord setup guide from August 2026 says the same. The Grok bots in Discord servers are community projects or bots people build themselves, which send each message to the Grok API and pay per token at the rates on xAI’s models page.
Grok Bot itself can reach Discord through a community plugin that replies only in channels you choose. If you install one, give it the narrowest permissions possible, because a Bot with server admin rights can read and delete almost anything.
Is there an open source Grok bot?
We found no source code release for Grok Bot itself. What xAI did open source is Grok Build, its terminal coding agent, which is a different product. The open source “grok bot” results you see are independent projects.
GitHub’s grok bot topic listed 156 public repositories on September 30, 2026. They range from self hosted lookalikes to command line tools and skill packs for the real Grok Bot. Self hosted options cost nothing to download, but you supply the server, the model keys and the security work, and none are reviewed by xAI.
What about the @grok bot on X?
The @grok account on X is the Grok chatbot answering inside posts and chats when someone tags it. It can search public X posts and the web for an answer, but X’s own Grok help page warns it may give confident but wrong information, so verify anything you plan to repeat.
It cannot sign into your ATS, run a routine or finish a job. One privacy note for HR teams: adding @grok to an X Chat lets X and xAI see every message in that chat while Grok is in it.
Grok Bot questions people ask most
What is the cheapest way to get Grok Bot?
Cursor Pro at $20 a month is the lowest priced paid plan that includes it, followed by SuperGrok at $30 a month. If you already pay for X Premium+, linking that account costs nothing extra.
Does Grok Bot usage count against my Grok chat limits?
No. xAI says Grok Bot comes with its own usage, separate from your Grok and Cursor plan usage. Bot usage is metered on your Cursor account even when it comes from a linked SuperGrok plan.
Can Grok Bot send emails to candidates?
It can if you let it. We recommend an Ask first rule on every outbound message, so the Bot drafts and a person approves the exact wording before anything sends.
Is my data safe if I run several Bots?
Every Bot on your account shares one cloud computer, including files, browser sessions and logins. Treat anything one Bot can reach as reachable by all of them, and grant the least access each job needs.
Does Grok Bot work on phones and Windows?
Yes. The desktop app runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and the mobile app runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, with the same Bots synced across devices.
Is Grok Bot worth it compared with ChatGPT or Claude?
For drafts and answers, a chat assistant is cheaper. Grok Bot earns its cost when you need a job finished inside your real tools on a schedule, with your approval as the last step.
