Pick Deel if most of the people you pay are outside the US and you want prices you can see before a sales call: contractors from $49 a month each, EOR employees from $599, global payroll from $29 per employee, month to month. Pick Rippling if your core team is in the US and you want payroll, HR, IT and spend on one employee record, with people abroad added to the same system. Rippling lists EOR from $499 a month and global contractors from $30, cheaper than Deel on paper, but everything else is a custom quote. Neither one runs weekly temp pay and bill for a staffing agency.
Prices and features checked on each vendor’s own site on 21 October 2026. Neither vendor paid for or reviewed this article.
What is the difference between Deel and Rippling?
Both hire and pay people in other countries, run payroll, offer a US PEO and sell IT and device management. The difference is where each one started and how you buy it.
Deel started as a global employment company. Its core products are contractor payments, employer of record (EOR) and global payroll, and it has since added HR, US payroll, a US PEO and IT. Its pricing page publishes a starting price for each product, says it has more than 40,000 customers, and says pricing is month to month with no long term commitment.
Rippling started as a US platform built around one employee record. Payroll, HR, IT (identity, apps and devices), finance (cards, expenses, bill pay) and global hiring are modules you pick. Its pricing page asks you to choose products and request a custom quote, and only says plans start at $8 per employee a month plus a base fee.

How much do Deel and Rippling cost in 2026?
Deel publishes a price for almost every product. Rippling publishes four global starting prices and one US formula, and quotes the rest. Here is everything each vendor shows.
| Product | Deel published price | Rippling published price |
|---|---|---|
| Contractor management | $49 per contractor a month | From $30 a month |
| Contractor of Record | $325 per contractor a month | Quoted |
| Employer of record | $599 per employee a month | From $499 a month |
| Global payroll (your entities) | $29 per employee a month | From $35 a month |
| Global HR | Deel HR Core from $5 per employee a month | Global HRIS from $8 a month |
| US payroll | $22, $39 or $49 per employee a month (bundled with HR) | From $8 per user a month + $40 base fee |
| US PEO | $125 per employee a month | Quoted |
| IT and devices | $49, $139 or $149 per user a month | Quoted |
| Recruiting module | $14 per worker a month | Quoted |
The Rippling global figures come from its global payroll page, which lists each one as “from” a monthly amount without always naming the billing unit. The US formula comes from its small business page. The Deel US payroll bundles come from its US payroll page, and the global payroll price from its global payroll page.
Is Rippling really cheaper than Deel for EOR?
On the published starting rates, yes: $499 against $599 per employee a month. Treat both as floors. Rippling does not publish what its $499 includes, and your quote may add platform fees. Deel lists what its EOR fee covers: onboarding, local compliance, payroll and tax filings, benefits administration and HR and legal support. Ask Rippling for an itemized quote that shows each module, its billing unit and any base fee.
Does Deel publish a US payroll price?
Partly. HR plus US payroll bundles are listed at $22, $39 and $49 per employee a month. Deel’s FAQ says US payroll on its own is a custom quote.
What do overseas hires cost per year on each?
This is a Work Insiders calculation from the published starting prices above: headcount times monthly price times 12. It excludes salary, employer taxes, country benefits, setup fees and any Rippling platform fee, which can apply on top.
| People abroad | Deel per year | Rippling per year | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 EOR employee | $7,188 ($599 × 12) | $5,988 ($499 × 12) | $1,200 |
| 3 EOR employees | $21,564 | $17,964 | $3,600 |
| 5 EOR employees | $35,940 | $29,940 | $6,000 |
| 10 EOR employees | $71,880 | $59,880 | $12,000 |
| 5 contractors | $2,940 ($49 × 5 × 12) | $1,800 ($30 × 5 × 12) | $1,140 |
| 10 contractors | $5,880 | $3,600 | $2,280 |
| 25 contractors | $14,700 | $9,000 | $5,700 |
The gap is $100 per EOR employee and $19 per contractor a month on list price. Rippling’s figures are starting points, so the real gap depends on your quote.
Is Deel or Rippling better for paying contractors abroad?
Rippling is cheaper on paper; Deel offers more ways to manage contractor risk. Rippling’s contractor page covers 185+ countries and 50+ currencies, lets contractors submit invoices or get them created from timecards, and says funds typically land 2 to 4 days after a pay run is approved.
Deel charges $49 per contractor a month and pays in 120+ currencies, with automated invoicing, tax form guidance and worker classification checks. Its extra is Contractor of Record at $325 a month, where Deel takes on the misclassification liability. If you place long term contractors abroad who look a lot like employees, that option is the main reason to pay Deel’s higher fee.
What about recruiters who pay overseas sourcers?
For a recruiting firm paying a handful of offshore sourcers or researchers each month, both work. Deel is the faster start, with a visible price and an easy path if a contractor later converts to an employee. Rippling makes more sense if you already run your US team on it.
Which is better for EOR employees in other countries?
Deel, for reach and published scope; Rippling, for price and one system. Deel’s EOR page says it owns entities and its payroll engine in 130+ countries, can onboard in as little as one day, and gives access to 2,000+ in house legal, HR and equity experts.
Rippling’s EOR page claims payroll lead times of 5 days to payday in popular markets and 12 days in less common ones. Rippling’s own EOR roundup lists its coverage at 80+ countries, which is fewer than Deel’s. The upside is that an EOR hire sits in the same system as your US staff, so the same hire can trigger app access, a laptop and an expense policy.
Which is better for US payroll?
Rippling, for most US based companies. US payroll is where it started, it runs payroll in all 50 states at no extra charge for multi state, and its starting formula is $8 per user plus a $40 base fee. Eligible US VC backed startups can get 6 months free.
Deel now runs US payroll in all 50 states too, with automated tax filings and W2s. Its cheapest published route is HR plus US payroll Core at $22 per employee a month. That is a flat per person price with no base fee, so the math is easy, but it is higher per head than Rippling’s starting formula once you pass a few people.
Rippling’s comparison page says “Deel was built for international workforces only.” That is a competitor’s claim and is now out of date, since Deel sells US payroll and a US PEO. If you are only weighing US payroll options, our Rippling vs Gusto comparison covers the cheaper US alternative.
What does US payroll cost per year by team size?
This is a Work Insiders calculation from published prices. Deel uses the HR plus US payroll Core bundle ($22 × people × 12). Rippling uses its starting formula ((people × $8 + $40) × 12), which is a floor, not a quote.
| US people paid | Deel HR + US Payroll Core | Rippling starting formula |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | $1,320 | $960 |
| 10 | $2,640 | $1,440 |
| 25 | $6,600 | $2,880 |
| 50 | $13,200 | $5,280 |
For 10 people, Deel’s bundle is $220 a month and Rippling’s formula is $120. Deel’s bundle includes HR tools such as time off and time tracking. Rippling’s formula buys a starting package, and benefits, time tracking and IT are separate modules, so a like for like Rippling quote will be higher.
Which US PEO is cheaper?
Only Deel publishes one. Its PEO page lists $125 per employee a month, with medical plans from Aetna and Kaiser Permanente and a named HR Business Partner. Its US payroll page also lists a PEO Starter at $110 that excludes PEO sponsored health benefits. Rippling’s PEO page offers large group health plans and lets you leave the PEO without changing software, but its price is quoted. Note that a Deel promotion running through 31 December 2026 requires a two year PEO term, so read the order form.
Which has better IT and device management?
Rippling has the deeper software; Deel has the clearer price and global shipping. Rippling’s device management is its own MDM for Mac and Windows. It enforces FileVault and BitLocker encryption, can lock or wipe a laptop on a schedule tied to offboarding, and stores spare devices in warehouses in the US and 26+ other countries. It offers a free trial.
Deel’s IT page sells three bundles: Starter at $49 per user a month (device lifecycle, MDM and endpoint protection), Growth at $139 (adds 24/7 IT support) and Scale at $149 (adds access management). Deel says it ships laptops to 130+ countries in under 10 days. A pricing tracker recorded these bundles rising from $45, $125 and $133 in mid 2026; that is a third party source.
Can a staffing agency use Deel or Rippling for temps?
Not for pay and bill. Neither ties weekly payroll to client invoices, timesheets by placement or job orders, which is the core of temp staffing. Staffing back office tools such as TempWorks do that. Agencies can still use Deel or Rippling for their own internal team and for recruiters or sourcers they pay abroad.
Who should choose Deel?
- Companies where most people are outside the US.
- Teams that want a published price for every product and month to month terms.
- Firms paying long term contractors abroad who want Contractor of Record cover.
- Buyers who want EOR in 130+ countries on owned entities.
- Non US companies opening a US team, through Deel’s US PEO.
Who should choose Rippling?
- US companies whose core team is domestic, with a few hires abroad.
- Teams that want payroll, IT, devices and spend on one employee record.
- Buyers who want the lowest published EOR and contractor starting prices.
- US VC backed startups that qualify for 6 months free.
What are the best alternatives to Deel and Rippling?
If neither fits, these tools solve parts of the same problem. Each listing has current pricing and its own alternatives.
| Tool | What it does differently | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| EOR, payroll and contractors with its own entities | Teams wanting a direct Deel alternative | |
| EOR plus HR for distributed teams | Smaller companies making first hires abroad | |
| Global payroll and EOR across 160+ countries | Large multi country payrolls | |
| Flat rate EOR with strength in Asia Pacific | Hiring in APAC | |
| Published price US payroll, no contract | Small US teams | |
| PEO with pooled benefits for small teams | US teams wanting big company benefits |
See every option in our EOR category and our payroll software category.
How should you trial both before you switch?
Both start with a demo, and Rippling offers a free trial of its device management. Ask each for a written quote for the same scope: your US headcount, the countries you hire in, contractor count, EOR count, benefits and devices. From Rippling, ask for each module, its billing unit, any base or platform fee, implementation charges, contract length and renewal terms.
Moving EOR employees is the hardest part, because the legal employer changes and local notice rules apply. For US payroll, switch at a quarter end if you can. Rippling says it imports year to date payroll data and can switch mid year. Deel says small businesses typically go live on payroll in 1 to 2 weeks.

Yes. Rippling runs its own EOR, listed from $499 a month, and says payroll can reach payday in 5 days in popular markets.
