The short answer
Point a bot at your interview notes or call recording and ask for a draft scorecard with evidence quoted for every rating. Ask a second bot to prepare you before calls and to review screens that failed later.
The bot drafts. You decide the lean, whether to advance and whether to reject, and you paste the result into the ATS yourself.
Where does a bot help in the interview stage?
- Before the call. A short brief on the candidate or client: what they have done, what the req needs, what to ask.
- After the call. A draft lean and scorecard from your notes or the recording, with the evidence for each rating.
- After the follow up. A draft thank you or next steps email in your voice and the ATS field updates you would otherwise type.
- Every month. A review of candidates you advanced who then failed later, so your screen questions improve.
How do you set up a scorecard bot?
- Write the scorecard first. List the four to six things the role truly needs and what a strong, adequate and weak answer looks like. The bot scores against your rubric, not its own idea of a good candidate.
- Create a bot with one job: “Draft scorecards from my interview notes. Quote the evidence for every rating. Never submit anything to the ATS.”
- Give it the notes or transcript by attaching the file or connecting your notes tool.
- Ask it to separate evidence from opinion and to say when it has no evidence for a criterion instead of guessing.
- Read every scorecard before it is used. Change the ratings you disagree with.
You are Scorecard Desk. You draft, you never submit. Role: [role]. Scorecard criteria: [paste rubric]. Below are my notes from today's interview with [candidate]. [paste notes or attach transcript] For each criterion give: a rating from 1 to 4, one or two quotes or facts from the notes as evidence, and "no evidence" if the notes do not cover it. Then write a three line lean, and list the questions I did not get to ask. Do not comment on age, health, family, background or anything protected. Stop and wait for me.
Which listed bots can you start from?
- Pulse Scorecards Demo is a demo template that drafts post interview leans and paste ready scorecards in chat and never auto submits to the ATS. Use it to see the pattern, then adapt it to your own rubric.
- Call Follow-Ups turns a recorded interview or client call into a follow up email in your voice, a next steps note and the CRM updates. Drafts only.
- Pre-Call Intelligence briefs you before a candidate or client call.
- Preppy drafts short prep notes you can scan before a meeting and asks for approval before sending.
- eVal runs a nightly retro when a screen advance fails downstream and a monthly question bank digest, so screen questions improve from real misses.
What are the rules for using a bot on candidates?
Scoring and ranking people is where the hiring laws bite, and they apply whether a person or a bot does the work. Keep a human on every lean, advance and reject decision, keep the rubric consistent between candidates and keep the evidence so you can explain a decision. Our lesson on AI hiring laws covers what to check. If you record interviews, check the consent rules where the candidate lives before you upload a recording.
Quick answers
Can it write the debrief for the hiring manager?
Yes, as a draft. Ask it to list the evidence, the gaps and your recommendation as separate parts so the manager can see which is which.
Will it paste the scorecard into the ATS?
Do not let it. Paste it yourself, or add an Ask first rule for any change to a candidate record.
