Bottom line

Spadework is an Amsterdam based AI layer for recruitment agency ATS databases that keeps candidate and contact records up to date and alerts recruiters when candidates look ready to move, contacts change jobs or clients post vacancies. It suits staffing, secondment and search agencies with large databases going stale. It is free for 50 profiles, then €270/mo for 1,000 profiles or €890/mo for 10,000, on yearly terms.

Stands out for: A latent candidate detector reads profile changes, such as a new bio and expanded work history with no job change, as a sign someone may be getting ready to apply. A backdoor hire notifier flags candidates who may have been hired directly by a client after you introduced them.

Watch out for: The product and most of the site are built for the Benelux market, with formal ATS partnerships with Dutch systems like OTYS, Carerix, Byner and Mysolution. Paid plans are a one year commitment, pricing is in euros, and US data coverage is unproven.

Overview

Spadework is based in Amsterdam and says 150+ agencies in the Benelux use it, across staffing, secondment, permanent placement and search. It started in 2023 with a CV Transformer that reformats CVs into an agency's house style, then moved into keeping agency databases current.

The core is a set of agents that run against your ATS. The Candidate Updater and Contact Updater correct outdated employers, titles, sectors and qualifications from public sources and fill empty fields, with an AI that maps the data to your own definitions. You can simulate a run on a selection first and choose which fields it may overwrite.

Signal agents then watch for change. The Latent Candidate Detector flags candidates whose profile activity suggests they may move, the Contact Lead Detector flags contacts who switch employer or role, and the Vacancy Collector and Vacancy Transformer file new client jobs into the ATS from websites, portals and forwarded emails. The Backdoor Hire Notifier flags candidates a client may have hired directly without a fee.

It has formal partnerships with OTYS, Carerix, Byner and Mysolution and connects to other systems including Bullhorn, Salesforce, Teamtailor and Yard. Agencies without an ATS can upload contacts and get opportunities by email. Data is hosted in the EU, and typical setup takes two weeks.

Free covers 50 profiles with all agents except the Daily Briefer. Launch is €270/mo for 1,000 profiles, Scale is €890/mo for 10,000 profiles with custom agents, and Enterprise is priced on request. Paid plans run for a year, paid monthly or up front with a 10% discount.

Who it's for

Best for

  • Agencies with 10,000+ candidate records that are out of date
  • Staffing and secondment firms in the Netherlands and Belgium
  • Recruiters who want warm contacts tracked when they change jobs
  • Teams that want new client vacancies filed in the ATS automatically

Key features

Candidate and contact updater. Corrects stale job titles, employers, sectors and qualifications in your ATS and fills empty fields, with rules on which fields it may overwrite.

Latent candidate detector. Flags people whose profile activity, such as a new bio, photo or expanded work history, suggests they may be open to a move, and adds a task on the record.

Contact lead detector. Spots when a client contact changes employer or role, so the warm relationship follows them to a new prospect.

Vacancy collector. Pulls new jobs from clients' sites and portals and files them in your ATS, fully filled in.
