Bottom line

ExecSearches fits nonprofits, public bodies, universities, health systems and the search firms that recruit for them when the role is a senior or fundraising hire. A single posting costs $99 for 30 days, $145 for 60 days or $175 for 90 days, with featured placement and a social campaign sold as add-ons. There is no placement fee. It is a posting board with member email alerts, not a resume database you search yourself.

Stands out for: Every posting is built and checked by a person, then matched against the saved criteria of a 75,000+ member registry and copied to Nonprofit-Jobs.org at no extra charge. Search firms can post openly, and the office sets up anonymous searches by hand so the organization is never named.

Watch out for: There is no searchable resume database: you wait for members to respond to the posting and alerts. Postings are not instant, since a person reviews each one, with a 24-hour publishing promise.

Overview

ExecSearches has served the nonprofit, government, education and health sectors since 1999. Employers and recruiters use it to fill executive, mid-level and fundraising positions, and the site is free and confidential for job seekers.

Posting is self-serve on one screen: you choose a duration of 30, 60 or 90 days, add any reach upgrades, and pay by card through Stripe. A person then builds and reviews the posting, and you get an email with the live link, usually within the hour and always within 24 hours. You can also email the posting and receive a payment link instead.

When a job is posted, employers tag job function, nonprofit sub-sector, region and keywords. These are matched daily against the member registry, and suitable members receive a confidential alert and apply directly as the posting instructs. Postings are also carried on Nonprofit-Jobs.org and in the member newsletter.

The board is run by founder and managing director F. Jay Hall. ExecSearches also runs GRC Careers, a board for governance, risk and compliance roles, built with the same hand-made posting method.

Who it's for

Best for

  • Nonprofit executive director and CEO searches
  • Fundraising and development leadership roles
  • Search firms posting on behalf of mission-driven clients
  • Confidential senior searches that cannot name the employer

Not ideal for

  • High-volume hourly or entry-level hiring
  • Recruiters who want to search resumes directly
  • Private-sector roles outside the mission-driven space

Key features

Human-reviewed postings. A person checks every posting for formatting before it publishes. ExecSearches says most go live within the hour and promises 24 hours.

Member registry matching. Each posting is matched daily against the saved criteria of a member registry of more than 75,000 people, and suitable members get a confidential email alert about the role.

Nonprofit-Jobs.org syndication. Every posting also appears on the companion site Nonprofit-Jobs.org at no extra cost, and ExecSearches says its positions are also available on Google Jobs and ZipRecruiter.

Search firm and confidential postings. Third-party listings from search firms and agencies go through the normal form. Anonymous searches are set up by hand by the office so the organization is never named.

Candidate questions with structured markup. Employers can add optional questions and answers to a posting, which are published with it and marked up so search engines and AI assistants can quote them.

No placement fee. You pay for the posting only. There is no further charge if you hire someone who found the role on ExecSearches.
